Villages and areas of Crete which are famous for their products

Crete is a botanical and culinary paradise. More than 2000 different species of plants thrive on the island, of which 190 are endemic. The geographical position of the island, the topography, and the climate have created particularly favorable conditions for the cultivation and growth of many different plants, giving the island a biodiversity that cannot be found anywhere else in Europe. And all these different weeds, herbs, medicinal plants, fruits, and vegetables in combination with Cretan olive oil formed the basis for the creation of the healthiest diet, Cretan.
This huge variety is reflected even in the relief and the climate of Crete. So great are the differences from region to region that no place is like another and everything is different.
