Stelios recently took me and another cycling buddy on mountain bikes around the Lasithi plateau. This was a great day out – it was more than a bike ride. Stelios provided us with insights into the local area, some history, discussions about the plants and farms along the way and of course a great lunch at a local cafe. I appreciated the quality of the bikes provided for the ride and the fact that they were well-maintained.
Hotel pick-up and return, explanation of the ride and ensuring the bikes were suitable for riders was an excellent service. The route taken was made a little challenging with a few hills, taken at your pace – there was no pressure to climb hard. Stelios clearly understood the capabilities of riders and managed this extremely well. Nothing seemed to be an inconvenience and Stelios’ delightful character made the day so enjoyable.
If you feel you are fit enough to ride about 30 km I recommend this ride to anyone who wants to see and experience something a little different from the (great) museums, archaeological sites and restaurants in Crete. Crete has beautiful scenery and friendly people and Stelios can help you experience this scenery and meet some of people on a day’s ride (or longer for those who have the time). If I had a longer stay in Crete, I certainly would have attempted another ride as I enjoyed the Lasithi ride so much.
